So I decided to take some friends
To the thrift shop on the corner
They hopped into my Civic
Excited to buy useless frivolities.
Suddenly the air was split
The sky shattered
And the clouds cracked
I told my homies sitting there
"My Civic has a belt loose
And it wants the whole world to know."
They laughed and said
"It must be afraid
and probably has lost a friend.
It feels alone and lost,
like no one understands."
I grew angry at this comment.
Fury brewed in my soul
"You are the one that doesn't understand!"
I shouted as my face twisted
Into an evil frightening sight
"My car doesn't cry out of fear
My car doesn't wail out of sadness
My car screams in a fit of rage
Furious at the confines of society
And the futility of growing old
"The only thing it lost was faith
In the omnipresent machine
The only thing it feels
Is hopelessness and pain"
"Like those who came before
Who fought against injustice
Like those who died alone
In the name of their belief
It begs for blind eyes to open
And see reality as it really is!"
"It screams death towards those that hate
Destruction to those who are selfish
It begs for the demise of those that follow blindly
And disparages meaningless ugly institutions!"
"See, you fools, open your eyes!
See the emptiness that will encompass all!
Feel the imminent endless death!
Hear the wails of forgotten truth!
Fear the end that will claim us all!"
When the car quieted down
My friends sat in numb silence
Then responded with one question
"What do you say?"
For the car was so loud
They didn't hear anything I said.
