Steve (the gardener) was humming along to the audible sounds of a Top 40 playlist as he hoed the dirt around a rose bush when he noticed Krondie approach him. “Krondie, How was working late at the office? Have you heard the news?” Steve grinned.
Krondie smiled back. “Have the companies merged?”
Steve laughed. “The company? No! Your brother is back!” Krondie took off towards the house. There was no way! Steve must be playing a joke on me, he thought. Through the window he heard the loud guffaws of John and Liv, his brother’s best friends, and glimpsed the messy “signature” hairdo of his brother.
The implications of this situation sunk in. He must have spent it all, and come back! And Father must have taken him back in! On top of it all, he had stayed, been faithful, and he did not get a party! It was infuriating.
Krondie sat under the window to wallow in his misery. he was interrupted by his father’s voice. “Come! Party! Your brother is home!”
Krondie sighed. “I have been faithful and true, and he has been off spending his inheritance on frivolities! You must know this. Where is my party?”
“Krondie, your brother was lost, and now wishes to be found. He was hungry, and wishes to be fed. Are we to put him out, because of his past mistakes?”
“No...”
“THEN COME PARTY!”
Alas, the mad party that ensued did not ease the jealousy Krondie felt towards his brother. The next day, Krondie was busily typing in his cubicle, trying to straighten out the finances when his younger brother walked by. “Hey, Krondie! How’s the finances coming?”
“Go away!”
“Whoa, Okay.”
Father walked by. “That’s no way to treat your brother.”
“You always take his side!”
“Okay, I won’t do that anymore,” Father proclaimed. And that is how Nintendo (the company) was born.
